Sommaire en anglais
The 23 major basins of the Canadian Prairie Watersheds are groupings of the PFRA Watershed Project's -Gross Drainage Areas- organized by major river or lake reach. They average around 160,000 km2 in size.

An -incremental drainage area- is a hydrometric gauging station's drainage basin (catchment) area, excluding the area of the next upstream station(s). These hydrologically fundamental areas are delineated for each hydrometric gauging station of the PFRA Watershed Project which extends across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and those portions of British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario and the northern United States into which Canadian Prairie Watersheds extend.
