Despite Canada's northern latitude and short growing season, the country produces a wide range of fruits, many of which, including cranberries, blueberries and Saskatoon berries are native to North America. With a total farm gate value of almost 845 million dollars (2014), Canadas fruit industry is a sector with significant economic importance accounting for 19.3 percent of the country's edible horticulture sector in terms of farm cash receipts.
