Summary in English
The Food Regulatory Issues Division (FRID) of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada commissioned an environmental scan to investigate the best practices in promoting the health benefits of food. The scan investigated whether nutrition activities can be a successful alternative to a health claim and what components of these activities may be effective. This report provides the key findings of that environmental scan. The insights will be useful to commodity groups that are planning either to conduct
or to revamp initiatives aimed at promoting the health benefits of their products.
This report is designed to raise awareness of the regulatory requirements and marketplace opportunitiesassociated with innovative products in the growing category of oods with added health benefits.
The report will be posted to the AAFC website, under the Food policy and Regulatory Issues Collection
