Mycotoxins are toxic chemicals produced by molds. In Canada, the mycotoxins of primary importance are Zearalenone, group of related chemicals called trichothecenes (including vomitoxin, T_2 toxin, and HT-2 toxin), ochratoxin, and ergot alkaloids1. A brief description of the toxic effects of mycotoxins is presented in table 1. Aflatoxin grains grown in southern climates.
