Summary in English
The Cultivar Evaluation Trial (known as the CET) was first planted in 1992. There has been a planting of this trial every year since then except for 1995. That year was missed because of a lack of trees due to problems in our nursery. The trial was designed to be a first look at new varieties in Nova Scotia. The goal was to access 30 new cultivars or advanced selections from breeding programs each year. It was thought that the material could come from breeding programs in any part of the world that had climatic conditions similar to ours or from nurseries anywhere in the world that had selections we wanted. Kentville selections that showed promise would also be included in the CET to get a look at them under the same conditions.
