This publication summarizes research carried out at the Melfort Station on the production of forage crops and includes information from other sources in the Aspen Parkbelt, particularly the Brandon Research Station. The material focuses largely, but not exclusively, on cultivated perennial forage crops because of their role in soil conserving agronomic systems. It is recognized that annual crops play an important role in providing pasture, hay and silage for ruminant livestock, but their production has been well researched and publicized.
